Even though I do enjoy blogging, I really enjoy taking and posting photos on Flickr. It’s been such an unexpected ride to even think that I could take decent pictures and share them with people from across the world. Having a good set of flickr friends makes all the difference I think. Anyhow, here is a shot that I took last month when we had gone out to dinner. Took this while I was on the escalator going down.
Enjoy!

Since I write about retail here, I thought I would past a photo of The Mall of the Emirates, one of the most popular malls in Dubai. There are several new malls coming up in the city, including Dubai Mall and Mall of the World (I think that’s the name), both of which will be huge in terms of size, brands, entertainment and activities. With each new mall that comes up, there seems to be a new level that is crossed. The Mall of the Emirates has a ski slope, complete with lifts, two food courts, one restaurant court and several other food areas, besides an performing arts center, multiplex, and so on. The Dubai Mall is said to have an aquarium with a walk through tunnel and will be opening in September this year.

Ever since I took up an interest in photography, I have started to notice things that I’d never even seen before. Maybe I did see the things, but they did not have an impact on me like they do now. My mind has become more curious about how to photograph things in a different way, how to capture them best, how to make ugly things look beautiful and so on. It certainly is a very interesting and time consuming past time.
Here is a shot that I took last month. It’s a simple shot, but I loved the way the colors came together and complemented each other.

The upside of taking so many photographs is that it has really opened up a whole new world for me, but the downside is that I’m running out of memory! Thankfully, this problem is easily fixable and something that is also rather affordable. It would be nice if other problems had such simple and accessible solutions too, wouldn’t it? Oh well, that is the way it is I suppose. When it comes to memory, one always thinks that the space is enormous and one will never manage to fill it up, but with media files and photographs the space fills up surprisingly fast. I do enjoy taking pictures a lot, so this is something that I have to take care of as well!

Lately I’ve been trying to take photographs that are bit different from my usual stuff. It is all too easy to get stuck in a rut and not even look for new angles and opportunities to take photographs. I’m very new to this, in fact my camera is a small and cute digital one, that is not manufactured by any of the camera greats, but I really have started to enjoy taking shots that are different, and not even necessarily pretty. Having this camera has opened up the world to me like never before, both physically and mentally and I can’t imagine why I didn’t get started earlier. Here’s one of the slightly different shots that I took some time back.

I’ve been taking lots of photographs on my morning walks lately. Everything looks so much nicer in the morning, so much cleaner and calmer. I love the quiet and the solitude of my walks and have really come to love the routine of them as well. Here’s a shot that I took last month outside a home not too far away from where we live. They have a wonderful garden, very well looked after and beautifully landscaped as well, more than most other houses.
Enjoy!

I’ve been taking lots of architectural shots lately, but I didn’t even realize the trend until one of my flickr friends pointed it out to me in a comment. The thing is that I take photographs of interesting sights and objects so it all depends on what looks more appealing to you. At one time, it might just be flowers and fruits while at other times, it might be modern and abstract stuff. I really like this shot, since the light was quite magical, even though the shot is not perfect I think it has something different.
Enjoy!

Photographs are a great way to express creativity, as I have only recently learned. I am simply hooked on finding interesting subjects to photographs and figuring out how to create the perfect shot. Since I don’t know any of the technical stuff about photography, I rely simply on what looks good and what looks interesting. I also like photographs that tell as story and these days, a lot of my photographs are a pictorial telling of my life.
Here’s one I took in March, when I was on vacation, but only recently uploaded on to Flickr.

I’ve done it. I’ve got myself a pro account on Flickr! It’s been such a fun time to browse through others photographs and upload my own. The kind of photo’s I have been taking has changed in the past few months, thanks to the influence of my flickr friends and to my spending some time thinking how to take a picture rather than just taking it and thinking about it later on. I was not into photography at all, so this has been a surprising shift for me, but all in all a very fun one too.
Here’s a screen shot of my pro page!
