Home exchange is the way to travel

There is never a better time to travel. I know, the economy is still a bit unstable, but that’s what makes it more interesting as well. Traveling at this time means that you really have to make the most of it, to really relish it since you might not be able to take another vacation for a while, and so make it memorable. And to do it well you have to be creative about how you’re going to go and save some money while you travel. Yes, really save some money as well. It’s called Home Exchange and it’s the best way to go see the world. In fact, it’s one of the fastest growing segments of the travel market, since it’s such an affordable way to travel and is very well suited to families who are not too keen on a hotel set up.

Interestingly, the home exchange market has really picked up with niche segments, like families with children and with clergy sabbaticals, for a trip for the whole family, since you’re living in a real home, and can really settle in, even visit the local church and not just feel like a guest. I think that’s what really makes the difference in vacations, when you’re able to really just relax and enjoy. I’ve browsed through some of the home exchange sites and a lot of them seem to be charging just for listing your property or doing an exchange, which is not always fair, and isn’t the way ChristianHomeExchange.com functions. Here the listings are free and the selections are very well suited for people looking to swap homes for a vacation.

In a home exchange scenario, select a home that you feel will fit your needs as well as for your swap guest. Often you can get to use the vehicle when you do a home exchange, so you might not even have to rent a car at your destination. It seems like a win-win situation on all fronts, so why not try it out. I’m keen on it!

expedia deals on facebook!

Traveling is always fun isn’t it, especially the planning and anticipation part. I love to plan my trips, even before we have anything concrete in terms of dates and days. It’s just nice to find nice options of places one can go to and places to stay and I find that I always get great ideas on Expedia. What I’ve done is that I’ve liked the Expedia uk facebook page, so I keep getting their updates and now can file away ideas on places to go and places to stay.

Everyone likes to do different things on their vacations. Some people like to see every museum and historical building there is to be seen, but for us, we like to explore the city, not just as tourists but as travelers, eating at places where the locals eat, and staying at smaller but more personalized places, which are sometimes really hard to find. And so far, I’ve found some great little gems of places in Prague, Berlin and Marrakesh, which I have filled away for whenever we actually plan the trip. Not only are there lots of reviews of cities and things to do as well, to help you decide where to go and when the best time to visit is as well, but lots of deals as well. I was so very tempted with some of the current deals on offer, since we have a long weekend coming up early next month and it would be great to go on a quick trip. Let’s see :-)

are you eyeing that plush resort job?

Even though I love what I do, sometimes I wonder what alternative career I might have enjoyed. It generally veers towards the hospitality industry, maybe because I love to travel and always feel that the hospitality world has an advantage on seeing beautiful places all across the world. The hotel industry is also one of the industries that is growing rapidly despite the slowdown in other fields, so finding a jobs like Resort Manager Jobs seems like a great option. To me, working in the travel and hotel fields would be a really hard line but also a really satisfying line, not just because I like to travel, although that is a large part of it all, I suppose.

oh vacation time, I miss you

It’s been quite a while since we’ve taken a vacation and so we thought it’s high time that we think of places to go and book a trip before it’s too late to get reservations at all the good places. The one country that I’ve really been wanting to go to is Turkey. I’ve been fascinated with Istanbul for ages, and I really want to be able to go and explore the city and the souks and cafes. There is so much more to the country than Istanbul, but that’s what gets the most publicity and the rush of tourists, but I’d really like to go and spend a nice long vacation so we can take our time exploring the area. Traveling with a toddler is not for the fainthearted and I certainly don’t want to rush-rush from one place to another. Now, if only I could find 2 weeks off that both of us will have at the same time!

Checking out some Port Saint Lucie Real Estate

Have you started thinking about your retirement? It doesn’t matter if you’re actually close to retiring or not, but it pays to start planning ahead with these things. The majority of Americans retire sometime between the ages of 55 and 70, which is quite a wide range, which means that you still have some time on hand. Planning ahead is the way to ensure that you have a great place in the sun ready for you when you retire. I’m keen on somewhere in Florida, since it’s already got such a great set up, pretty much with all that you need for creating the perfect retirement lifestyle and of course some of the best healthcare options.

These retirement “hotspots” such as Port Saint Lucie work so well, since they not only cater to all the needs of retirees, but do it in a style that makes it feel like a five-star hotel. Who wouldn’t want to live in such a place? Not me! I would love to spend my days in one of these communities. By day, enjoy sporting activities, shopping, cultural outings and the beautiful outdoors, and by night, go dancing and dining, see some theater and live the refined life. Looking through some Port Saint Lucie real estate, I found that there were several really nice options, especially if you’re into golf. I mean, who would love living by a PGA championship course. Not me. Umm, where do I sign the dotted line? I would like a villa by the 18th green, please.

If you’re visiting Port Saint Lucie, and what a delightful name it is, you’ll find it to be a charming place, full of character, full of interesting nooks to explore, and full of great restaurants. I was quite amazed at the amount of sports activities that are possible, especially related to fishing and being on the water. For water lovers, it’s quite a paradise!

I need some snow!

With the way the heat is these days, I’m dying for a getaway to a cooler place. Somewhere where there is snow would be my ideal choice actually. I’m dreaming of packing up for a road trip, loading the thule ski racks with our gear and hitting the road to the slopes. There is something so appealing about being in the snow, taking long walks, drinking hot chocolate, enjoying the slopes and much more. And all this somehow seems even more fun when it’s so hot right now. I think I must start planning for a cool vacation sooner than later.

Have you been to the Philippines yet?

I’ve yet to travel to the Philippines but the country is looking more and more inviting lately. I wrote about a blog I found about the country a couple of weeks ago and I was simply amazed at the natural beauty of the country and especially its variety of landscapes in the country. While in general hotels are easily available in the country, some of the good ones can work out to be rather expensive, but if you look on the internet is possible to get cheap hotels in Makati, where you can enjoy a wonderful place to stay as well as not worry too much about your budget. Isn’t that what a vacation is all about anyways? No point coming back from a vacation and being in debt for the next year trying to pay off your hotel stay, right?

Waiting for a deal?

The cruise ship industry is going through some tough times these days. It is expected after all, when everyone is cutting back on all sorts of extra expenses then going on a cruise isn’t at the top of the list for most travelers. But, hold on a minute, what if you got a really superb deal, with some freebies thrown in as well, then would it climb up to the top of your travel list? It sure would in mine! Well, there are many great deals out there, you just have to keep looking and make sure you can travel at a short notice at times, since often good deals happen due to other people’s cancellations. One of the sites that always has good information is Royal Caribbean and it will definitely pay to have a look every once in a while for special offers and deals

summer fun

When it comes to fun summer vacations, I would have to pick the times we spent at the cottage in the hills. I like going to a place often enough that one is not in the rush of things to go see the local sights and so on. I want to just be able to chill or visit tried and tested haunts that one already likes. Living in a cottage is great fun, especially if it has some rustic furniture on the verandah, where one can while away the evenings, listening to some nice laid back music and drinking a nice tall glass of something chilled. And of course, listen to the tinkling of ice cubes in the glass!
