Shipping containers are not just for shipping anymore and the varied uses from hotels to stores and now they are being used to screen TV and music videos that are being shown to showcase New Zealand culture in Auckland and Wellington. Made as a collaboration between NZ on Screen, a production company called Storybox and a designing and branding agency Chrometoaster, they also have an interactive video wall and an iPad app where users can take a photograph of themselves that can be added to one of the classic New Zealand movies or TV shows. Other attractions include a “retro Kiwi caravan” that serves as a small cinema. There seem to be no end to innovative uses of shipping containers. Read more about this in Springwise.

The world of retail is changing constantly and nowhere is it more apparent than a ever-changing city like Dubai. Malls and shopping centers take on a whole new meaning in this desert city. The heat of the summers means that being outside is not a viable option, so the malls become more than just a place to go shopping. A typical mall in Dubai will have all the utility companies so bills for water, electricity, telephone etc can be paid. They will also have banks with teller counters so one can conduct regular banking activities. One of the anchor stores will be a large hypermarket which will sell everything from the usual groceries to large electronics. So, it’s not for nothing that life in the summer centers around these malls.

Who doesn’t want to live in Florida! The very word conjures up the easy life, beaches, parties and so on doesn’t it? One of the most popular places to live in the state is the east coast of Florida, the Orlando area. Orlando it turns out has something for everyone. Kids love it for all the theme parks, women love it for all the shopping, men love it for all the amazing sporting activities, from golf to fishing, and of course there is a huge convention industry, which brings in thousands of visitors for conventions and seminars. Living in the sun is still a hot trend!
Tourism is a huge industry in the Orlando area, which creates a fun atmosphere for residents as well. The cafe’s and restaurants are always buzzing, there are always sales and specials on offer making it a fun place to be. And who doesn’t want to live in a fun and happening city! I just couldn’t resist looking at some Florida houses for sale that Kolter Homes has on offer to see if I can picture our family there, living the vacation kind of life one imagines it to be. Buying a house isn’t necessarily the cheapest thing these days, but at least it’s not as expensive as it was a few years back. There’s a bit of a consolation in that, isn’t there! So even though buying a house is a huge investment, it really could be the best time to make that investment, since the prices aren’t at their peak and will definitely be on the upswing soon.
One of the most important things you can do when searching to buy a house is to understand and research the area, so look up Florida Information online and see all the technical details about the state. Florida has a large number of master planned communities, and living in one of them is the ultimate goal for a number of home buyers in the state. Most of these developments such as the ones by Kolter Homes have custom-built homes, so that they fit your lifestyle and way of life perfectly.

The level of treatment for all kinds of illnesses has really been improving it seems. The specialization is especially worth noting, with facilities that cater to just a certain type of problem such as panic drug treatment centers or for eating disorders or for stress. It’s interesting to note that it has also become more acceptable to go to these centers for treatment without any stigma of any kind or without showing any kind of weakness. They are diseases that need to be treated and that’s it.

These days everything seems to either be going touch screen or touch free. Yesterday I saw an advertisement for touch free soap dispensers for the home and I wonder how far will hand dryers be for the home bathroom as well. All the new commercial and retail buildings have all the latest equipment and it’s almost all touch-less. Only the doors of the stalls still need to be touched to be opened and soon they might be touch free as well. I wonder if that might cause some confusion or not!

The rush to lose weight is a dangerous thing. Most people have no patience at all and want to lose as much weight as possible as soon as they can. While in some instances, it is alright to do such a thing, at other times, especially if you have a medical history of heart problem then you really should consult with a doctor first to see if it’s all right. It is also possible to lose weight using new systems that are safer for people with medical conditions. Overall, as medical science has progressed, we have seen so many new products such as human growth hormone that push you to be your best, to feel better and look younger. Instead of the more dangerous injections, this is a much safer way to increase these “happiness” hormones.

Coupon sites are a huge trend in the retail industry these days. No one wants to pay regular prices and why not, consumers all know of the huge margins that most retailers have and want to make their money stretch as far as possible. RetailMeNot is one of the newer entrants to the coupon scene and has been around only for 6 months, but has over 1 million visitors every month who have contributed 35,000 coupons that can be used online. I was surprised to see so many target coupon code options for discounts ranging from 10% off to $5 off a $50 order at their site. A really cool feature of the site is a firefox extension that can be downloaded, so that it reminds you to enter a coupon code whenever you are buying something online. If you want alerts in your email, you can sign up with the Hot coupons newsletter, which can be selected for a single retailer or for all of them combined.

The recession has impacted the real estate and construction industry almost as bad as the financial sector, but as things look up again, albeit slowly, sales for things such as Hansgrohe faucets and other plumbing accessories are looking up again. The recovery is not over, and the climb so far has been very slow, which is likely to continue to do so, but as long as people are starting to build and renovate again, it’s a good sign for the future. A sign that things will surely be back to normal one day soon.
